and his twelve disciples

Sit at table,

debating how the universe will end.

I fear that if they find the answer,

God may frown,

And they –and all of us – may disappear

In an instant, game over!

Wait –

They’re laughing,

Embarrassed about something.

God be praised, they don’t have the answer yet!

All’s well.

Sheep may safely graze.

And I may have a second bowl

Of Celia’s raisin pudding.
