Martha’s Song

Years later, Martha, the sister of Mary, remembers Jesus.

My Lord, my friend, I long to be

With you beside the shining sea,

To bow my head at your command,

To see your face, to touch your hand.

I never thought that you’d be gone,

And I’d be left to live alone,

To live without your smiling face,

To live, my Lord, without your grace.

Yet when I pray to you above,

You fill my heart with light and love.

You’re always here, you’ll always be

My Lord, my friend, a part of me.
